What have I been up to?
Art, writing, and healing! Drawing portraits of my favorite rockers, John Lennon, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and more... I’ve developed a really cool associated line of merchandise called “Hairy Krishna”. I have also been pursuing publishing  a children’s book, "Otis Gets Noticed",  I had written and illustrated ages ago. Some promising leads are hovering! Drawing portraits, illustrations, and designing promotional pieces for clients and events, such as one in Minneapolis in February that honored the late Pulitzer prize winning poet, John Berryman. A recent exhibit of a series of paintings I created entitled “2006; The Lost Year” did quite well - many signed prints sold! I’m also in the planning phase of a mural for the Minnesota Beatle Project! (woo hoo!) I’m a consultant for doTERRA essential oils, and a Certified Personal Care Attendant for my little granddaughter, MaKayla, and a lunch companion to Rick (a dear man who suffers from schizophrenia). Plus a coupla fun part time jobs, and creating Left Field for the Guide monthly!  Life is good.

Dear Constance,
Do the cows at the Bel cheese factory (home of “Laughing Cow”) in France really laugh, and why? What’s so funny about cheese?
~ Anonymous Cheese Lover

Dear Anonymous
(and possibly paranoid),
Cows do laugh, look at me!? However, an entire factory of laughing cows piqued my interest. Conrad and I embarked on a bit of industrial fromage-espionage - a trip to France had been long overdue anyway.  I can only speculate, as we were unable to enter the facility. Apparently we were not laughing enough, and our hides are not the appropriate shade of fire-engine red. I deduce that all the chuckling is a result of the fact that the factory is seated snuggly between two culprit buildings. One producing clouds of feathers, the other, laughing gas.
My question is, why the anonymity? Are you a cheese-aholic who fell off the cheddar wagon? Maybe you are cheese-a-phobic, and fear venturing outside the consumption of Krafty  slabs of ‘fake-cheese-food’. Whatever the case, your need for secrecy is cause to chuckle. Guess that makes me a laughing cow after all. Thanks for writing and remember “She who laughs, lasts.”
~ Constance

Dear X Marks-the-Spot-Where-I-Kick-Your-Smart-A...,
Err.. I mean... Interesting inquiry indeed. Have you considered reading a label? After the initial shock at the thought of powdered bovine, I researched the product. Powdered milk is simply a dried milk material with several additives and fortifications, which differ depending upon the brand. When a measured amount of H2O is added, a pile of powder is magically reconstituted into what I would call a milk-like substance. Not exactly the best substitute for the real thing, but for folks on a budget, or whose deviant minds delight at the image of powdered cow origins, it will suffice.
What would you do, X (whose initials are Dan Collins),  if you added water to the powder and upon stirring, an actual cow formed before your very eyes? I imagine you would milk it for all it was worth. If I were you, I’d run.
~ Constance (most assuredly a solid, carbon-based life form)

I, Sherri Faye, am committed to consuming substances that are pure in form, within reason. My friend, Lori W., recently turned me on to ‘doTERRA’ therapeutic grade essential oils. Which has spurred further enthusiasm  toward pursuing an holistic lifestyle for me. That said, powdered substances can be like lies - often questionable, could blow away with the wind, and definitely merit some investigation prior to swallowing. Thanks Lore!

Note: This was published as episode 30B in the NEG, the correct "Episode" number is 29b. As Episode 29a was simply a holiday advertisement for Left Field products, published on Dec. 1, 2010.
